For
over 30 years, Maria has been providing guidance and
inspiration to people from all walks of life. From
personal styling to custom clothing and closets, she
is the “go-to” girl for a total fashion
makeover!
Maria’s journey into fashion began in the 7th
grade when “nothing fit right.” Met by opposition
and ridicule she persevered and found her avenue
to touch the world.
She
started doing alterations and custom clothing from
her Houston home. Through referrals, her
business grew and she opened a shop in Rice
Village, where she was successful for many years. She remained there for many years. Her
expanding clientele branched into costumes for
theater and opera, displays for prominent fabric
storeowners and gowns for beauty pageant
contestants.
With
needle and thread in hand, she would sew a hem,
create custom evening wear and day wear from a
photograph, bead and fit prom dresses and she even
worked with museums to restore Aboriginal works of
art.
Maria was a judge in the DECA and AIFA program, as
well as numerous beauty pageants. She has given
seminars in the corporate arena, weight-loss
clinics, paralegal schools and in the homes of
individual clients.
Realizing that one’s outward appearance has an
effect on one’s self-confidence, Maria decided to
help people look beautiful on the outside, knowing
that it would also make them feel beautiful on the
inside. Maria has left her mark in everything that
she has done, but has never left a label, letting
her high-quality work and professional, personal
approach carry her name.
